Summary

There's a new administration in the White House。 But it's the previous First Family who tops an international assassin's hit list。

Michael Keating is a former Navy SEAL -- and a former President of the United States, now relocated to rural New Hampshire after a brave but ill-fated military mission cost him his second term。

All he wants is to sink into anonymity with his family (and his Secret Service detail)。 But when he's briefed on an imminent threat against his daughter, Keating's SEAL training may prove more essential than all the power, connections, and political acumen he gained as President。

A really good book。 In some places predictable, but it kept my attention。 Lots of moments where you can’t put it down。 The president character is a positive role model and the archetypal hero that we expect from a president。 Thank really enjoyed it。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Well-written, entertaining, kept me reading。 But it was also thoroughly predictable。 “Taken” with a president father。 But I still enjoyed it。

Mona

Very well done and nice to have a book I had trouble putting down and ready to get back to it。

Cinda

Good book。 Little unbelievable at times but kept your interest I read it quickly

Vicki Bailey

Starts well, pacy and engaging, characters and settings believable, and varied, but loses points on plot and pacing as it goes on。 Characters start to become irritating and one dimensional when they had so much potential。 Still, a good read, that kept the pages turning。

Mackenzie Greer

Captivating。 Interesting。 About 150 pages too long

The cover of this book might as well be an eagle, wrapped in the Stars and Stripes, mowing down terrorists with a machine gun。It gets two stars because it’s entertaining enough but I felt that, for all the behind-the-scenes insight that Bill Clinton was supposed to have brought to the table, it was let down by the shocking quality of the writing。 The book was almost patronising in its insistence in reminding the reader of the full names and job titles of all the main players - if you can’t remem The cover of this book might as well be an eagle, wrapped in the Stars and Stripes, mowing down terrorists with a machine gun。It gets two stars because it’s entertaining enough but I felt that, for all the behind-the-scenes insight that Bill Clinton was supposed to have brought to the table, it was let down by the shocking quality of the writing。 The book was almost patronising in its insistence in reminding the reader of the full names and job titles of all the main players - if you can’t remember that the eponymous President’s Daughter is called Melanie by half way through the book, you’re never going to get it。 Cut all of that information out and the book would’ve come in at half the length。There was an attempt at a dramatic twist in the middle of the book, but it absolutely stood out immediately as the fake out that it is, as it would be far, FAR too un-American in a book like this。I stuck with it, as it was easy to read, but I don’t think I would pick up another of these books。 I can see why they are popular, and anything that gets people reading is good, but there are better, and shorter, books in the same genre - unfortunately not with the cachet of an ex-President… 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 It felt very American but there are plenty of good twists and uses lots of real life references!

Excellent Story LineReally understood the challenges that a child of a President has to deal with and the dangers they must face。

Pretty good read。 Not a typical Patterson and it definitely kept my attention

binge listened! liked the daughter character, her school friend。。。 normally do NOT like several readers, prefer "old school" of just one。。。 but this one worked well。 binge listened! liked the daughter character, her school friend。。。 normally do NOT like several readers, prefer "old school" of just one。。。 but this one worked well。 。。。more

I don't often read "popular" literature, so I'm struggling to rate/review this。 It was entertaining but required a complete suspension of logic and experience。 Coincidences are one of Clinton's favorite narrative structures。 Go figure I don't often read "popular" literature, so I'm struggling to rate/review this。 It was entertaining but required a complete suspension of logic and experience。 Coincidences are one of Clinton's favorite narrative structures。 Go figure 。。。more

Gets Better as it goes alongThis book started out sort of slow and I had trouble getting into it。 However, it really picked up quickly and I couldn't put it down。 I kept thinking that with Clinton as the coauthor, how much of this was loosely based on reality? I absolutely enjoy this partnership and I hope they continue to write stories together。 Gets Better as it goes alongThis book started out sort of slow and I had trouble getting into it。 However, it really picked up quickly and I couldn't put it down。 I kept thinking that with Clinton as the coauthor, how much of this was loosely based on reality? A fun action adventure thriller。 Good guys are really good guys, bad guys range from psychopathic murdering terrorist to self serving politicians。 Arch terrorist Asim’s family died in a raid looking for him two years before the action of the story。 He holds now ex-president Matt Keating and kidnaps his daughter。 The Ransom is outrageous and on an impossible timeline to meet。 If I went much further in the plot, I’d have to say, “Here there be spoilers” so I will stop here。The plot moves quickly w A fun action adventure thriller。 Good guys are really good guys, bad guys range from psychopathic murdering terrorist to self serving politicians。 Arch terrorist Asim’s family died in a raid looking for him two years before the action of the story。 He holds now ex-president Matt Keating and kidnaps his daughter。 The Ransom is outrageous and on an impossible timeline to meet。 If I went much further in the plot, I’d have to say, “Here there be spoilers” so I will stop here。The plot moves quickly with a lot of action and intrigue involving the new president, his former VP who won the nomination from him, a Chinese agent/diplomat, the aforementioned Asim and his nephew protege。 As with most action stories, one must suspend disbelief periodically。 Hey, it’s a novel, not history。 Towards the middle of the book, however, there is a plot device that has what seems to me to be impossible。 That kept me from giving a 5 rating。Stylistically, the authors shift between first person when the president is center stage。 The rest of the time is God’s eye view。 Normally, I don’t like shifts like this, but it works here。 。。。more

I definitely have been looking forward to reading this book, especially after Bill Clinton and James Patterson's last book together (The President is Missing)。 I thought the characters were pretty interesting, but I would not read this book if you are easily upset by political divisions and tension between political leaders。 The book definitely will not unify different people lol。 Besides the problematic feel of the characters and their intentions, it was overall a pretty ok read。 If you are a p I definitely have been looking forward to reading this book, especially after Bill Clinton and James Patterson's last book together (The President is Missing)。 I thought the characters were pretty interesting, but I would not read this book if you are easily upset by political divisions and tension between political leaders。 The book definitely will not unify different people lol。 Besides the problematic feel of the characters and their intentions, it was overall a pretty ok read。 If you are a picky fan of thrillers and have very high expectations for thrillers, then I would say to skip this read。 The book was a bit predictable, but I definitely still enjoyed reading it and flew through it。 If Bill Clinton and James Patterson write another thriller, I will still read it。 The book was a solid 3, nothing extraordinary, but still a decent read。 。。。more

A page turning thriller。 Former President and ex SEAL Matt Keating is an honest man who admits his mistakes, unfortunately it cost him the re-election。 Now a private citizen he still has an international terrorist for an enemy。 When his daughter Mel is kidnapped he will do anything to get her back。 Once a SEAL always a SEAL。 But the real kicker is Mel herself she may wear glasses but she is the daughter of an ex SEAL and former President。 She has a few tricks up her sleeve。

Christine Goebert

Very enjoyable book。。 lots of twists and turns。 They are a great writing team together。
